Encore...again!
by Richard W. Saunders
Grotesques revel, their forms askew,
In all their strangeness, they are you;
Unbridled, unwilling, uncouth, unseen,
Acting out their wildest dreams!
Cut a rug, kick some dust!
Join the dance. Make a fuss!
We accept you! Jump and cuss!
Gooble gobble! One of Us!
Untamed & bold, fierce & mean,
Mirth & play, reconvene.
For song & dance to form anew,
Gooble Gobble! We want you!
*The line "Gooble Gobble! One of Us!" and rhythm was inspired by the 1932 film 'Freaks'.
**this poem was originally featured in the Liminal, in our fall 2024 issue.

*Fox & Thistle Studio passionately invites minstrels and musicians to weave our verses into melodies of their own — and to share the song with us if you do.
