Unpositions
Not everything needs a position
not everyone needs me to care
Not agreeing is not disagreement
Why must everything be such a dare?
My opinions happen for reasons
that I don’t feel the need to explain
My preferences are only just seasons
and are quite often subject to change
‘this cuz of that’ is poor thinking,
and ‘that cuz of this’ is just pride
There are traps that our thoughts like to sink in,
and ‘quiet’ ain't something to hide
Holding my tongue has a purpose,
trying feelings and thoughts on for size
When we don’t—we think we've a surplus
on what’s right and what’s wrong and what’s wise
not everyone needs me to care
Not agreeing is not disagreement
Why must everything be such a dare?
My opinions happen for reasons
that I don’t feel the need to explain
My preferences are only just seasons
and are quite often subject to change
‘this cuz of that’ is poor thinking,
and ‘that cuz of this’ is just pride
There are traps that our thoughts like to sink in,
and ‘quiet’ ain't something to hide
Holding my tongue has a purpose,
trying feelings and thoughts on for size
When we don’t—we think we've a surplus
on what’s right and what’s wrong and what’s wise
Not everything needs a position
and purposes are often not clear
Questions and kept suppositions
Questions and kept suppositions
outline the empty with care
So I’ll go on thinking in riddles
finding wisdom —not knowing what’s wise
by slowly chewing my questions,
and resting my loud, bold, and right.
finding wisdom —not knowing what’s wise
by slowly chewing my questions,
and resting my loud, bold, and right.

*Fox & Thistle Studio passionately invites minstrels and musicians to weave our verses into melodies of their own — and to share the song with us if you do.
